Fancy Keyboards

As if trying to type out an email or internet fax on a virtual keyboard was hard enough with the lack of the textile feedback wasn't hard enough, here comes the multi-touch keyboard that is completely made of glass. It works because it is entirely made of glass. Infrared light is shined into it, and the light rays are reflected inside the keyboard. When touched, a finger alters the reflection and that change is detected as a key press by a small camera below it. The keyboard also has a matching mouse. As an added bonus for tinkerers, the guy who patented the idea, Jason Giddings, is using open-source software to control the keyboard. Apple recently patented a similar idea, but it works very differently, relying on pressure sensors. I guess if the keys were to be able to pop back up, it might be a hit. Another great thing about this keyboard is that the keys can change according to the language that is used which means that it will be able to expand to other countries and be used there.
